Bangladesh is on track to meet millennium development goal 4 (reduce child mortality).  The country has made significant progress in improving the health of its children and has reduced its child mortality rate by two thirds since 1990 (from 143 deaths per 1,000 in 1990 to 48 in 2010).  The infant mortality rate declined by 63% during the same time period.
