Suicide is a predominantly male issue, yet very few people realise the extent of the problem.  One possible reason men are more likely to kill themselves than women in the UK is a reluctance to talk about their problems and seek help when they are in crisis.  The stigma surrounding depression is a very powerful one, and can prove fatal, however it is a treatable condition and Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) exists not only to change attitudes towards suicide and depression in men, but also to provide support if and when they need it.  Asking help is an act of bravery, not a sign of weakness.  Being silent isn’t being strong.
