The HS2 is a proposed new ultra-high-speed rail line designed to carry trains at up to 250 mph in the UK.  It’s planned Y shape route will run trains between London and Birmingham and Manchester and Leeds.  The UK Government say that the line would cost about £33 billion to build.  But this is the so-called ‘Present Value’ not the real  cash cost – and it excludes the cost of trains.
