What If We Burned All The Fossil Fuels We Have?
It would mean a lot of carbon emissions, enough to raise the earth’s temperature by 18.78ºC. Coal represents the biggest risk, due to the estimated amount available and its high carbon content. The estimated amount of oil-in-place in the Alberta oil sands – 1.8 trillion barrels – would make a small but significant contribution to this warming.
